A darn good burger

A darn good burger

Coming to the uHood soon! This is a Wes Burger a pop-up that I found in Mr Pollo before the holidays. They should be coming back in Feb (likely on Sunday nights) and I highly recommend you try it. I would say it is the best burger I have had in SF – and that’s big!

If you don’t believe me – see what Broke Ass Stuart has to say: http://brokeassstuart.com/sf/2013/11/15/wes-burger-possibly-sfs-best-new-burger-joint/

NERT Training offered in Noe Valley (uHood)

As some of you know …  I am currently taking NERT (Neighborhood Emergency Response Training) with the San Francisco Fire Department.   They are going to offer another course starting soon right in our very own uHood!   The class prepares you to be a emergency responder alongside the fire department in the case of a major disaster (think earthquake).  There are six three hour sessions taught by firefighters.  I have found the course really interesting thus far.

For more information on NERT:  http://www.sf-fire.org/index.aspx?page=859

For information on the training in Noe Valley (@ Fair Oaks & 26th):  http://www.sf-fire.org/index.aspx?page=879

And when you graduate from NERT  you get your own helmet and orange vest.  I know you all will be very jealous.  And yes – you can all just come to my house when the big earthquake comes.  We all know that was your plan anyways,  Now I will be better prepared!

Never leave the uHood – have it delivered!

So the options for deliveries to the uHood continue to increase.  I can personally attest to the beauty of Google Shopping Express and the free six month beta.  Free delivery from Target, Walgreens, Lucky, and Nob Hill Foods is pretty sweet.  They have also added Whole Foods, REI, Costco, Blue Bottle, and many more stores.  But they don’t deliver fresh food.  Enter Amazon Fresh!  Which delivers to my house (I confirmed my address) so I assume it will deliver to yours. Besides just groceries – Amazon Fresh seems to have some really awesome local vendors and semi-prepared foods like Delica Japanese, Homeroom Mac & Cheese, and ever raw Rosamunde Sausages!  Check out the initial vendors here:  https://fresh.amazon.com/Category?cat=spotlight&appendmp=true&pf_rd_s=center-4&pf_rd_p=1687837342&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=21&pf_rd_r=1TT2WGYC4AQFTFBF0ZHR

They have to have unobstructed access to your front door to deliver.  I am certainly going to give it a try.  Free delivery for orders over $35 but they seem to be pushing people to sign-up for the free Amazon Fresh Prime trail (30 days free but if you don’t canx $299 for the year).

The Eater article also mentions lots of other delivery options:  http://sf.eater.com/archives/2013/12/11/amazonfresh_grocery_delivery_has_arrived_in_the_bay.php

Really why ever leave the uHood?

Review of Clooney’s

So 7×7 had a hysterical review of drinking at Clooney’s.  You can read the whole thing here:  http://www.7×7.com/music-nightlife/weeknighter-clooneys but my favorite quote, “Local drunks and weirdos sat around the horseshoe-shaped bar staring at the TV . ..”.  So true, so true!

no way they will ever top the witty editorials and commentary on the microhoodsf.com blog …  but could be an interesting way to actually communicate with our neighbors?  I just signed up for this and my address is now included.  But sadly – the site arbitrarily determines your uHood and I am in Juri Commons (Guerrero to Mission, Cesar Chavez to 24th St).

Sadly I am the only person in Juri Commons from our uHood (though Niall’s old place is in the same uHood).
