Here are a bunch of random local resources that everyone in the uHood should know about!
AlertSF – This is a text message and email based notification system for San Francisco residents. You subscribe and set your preferences about what type of notifications you want to receive. Messages cover emergencies disrupting vehicular/pedestrian traffic, watches and warnings for tsunamis, flooding, and Citywide post-disaster information. Subscribe now! https://alertsf.org/
CitySourced – this is a website and iPhone app for reporting civic issues such as graffiti, illegal dumping, damaged sidewalks, junk cars, etc. It is super easy to use – you just snap a picture, give the app access to your location so it can report the exact location, and then write a small description. Check it out! http://www.citysourced.com/ (for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry)
Recology – so really our normal garage company just changed their name to Recology – but the local resource you should know about is the "recycle my junk" service. Twice a year (free of charge for up to 10 items if you are already paying for garbage) you can schedule a junk pick-up. You do have to give them a list of the items you have – but they will pick up furniture, electronics, appliances, mattresses, carpets, etc. And supposedly they recycle all of it! http://www.recyclemyjunk.com/
